 A Milestone

Peanut has gotten so much more active that he was having fits in that little outside area, so we decided to turn him loose this evening in the "big yard" to make him feel a little better.  Prissy and Junior had to visit with him through the gate, but Peanut was ecstatic to see them up close.  I took a few pictures so you can all see how he is doing.

Ice shopped around til he found a halo that is more flexible and not as big, and Peanut does very well with it.  The thing hanging down under his left "armpit" is a tube that Doc put in during his surgery and will be taking that out on Tuesday.

Junior (I love that face!)

Looks like I'm gonna have to do some haircuts soon, but I really prefer Junior's hair long.  He's so soft and cuddly that way, but it tends to mat, so I guess I'll give him a trim.....sigh.  lol

I basically wanted to show everybody how well Peanut is doing and although his wounds still don't look that great, it's such a huge improvement to what they were.  Thanks again for all your concern and prayers for little Peanut.  It's working, folks!

Oh, and I came home to find all the new fence posts in place!  These guys work fast and everything is strong and perfectly straight.  After the concrete sets over the weekend, they'll string the wire on Monday.  It's a very heavy chain link with smaller links.  Plus the guy will be securing it at the bottom so that no dog will even be able to get in that way (or out).  I can't wait til it's finished!

I've been a zombie today since I stayed up half the night finalizing another grant.  It had to go in the mail today, so I didn't have much choice.  Anyway, I'm glad it's done so I can move on to the next professional fire to put out.  lol.  What little time I slept, I was dreaming about goals and objectives and improvement plans and salaries and budgets........

Sorry, I almost fell asleep there, lol.  So much for the exciting life of a Schnauzer lover.  See ya later, gaters!

 The AMAZING Peanut!!!!

Well, I just picked Peanut up from the Vet's office and brought him home.  He was so excited to be home that I was afraid he was going to jump out of my arms before I could get him safely inside.  When he heard and saw the rest of the dogs, it was all I could do to keep him contained, lol.

Doc came out and was grinning from ear to ear again and was telling me more about Peanut's injuries and such.  He said that when he was attacked, BOTH of his pectoral muscles (under what I call his "armpits" and across his chest) were completely severed.  He said one of the AMAZING things about it is that these particular muscles rarely heal properly and even more rarely heal in the right alignment.  Well, both Peanut's pectoral muscles have not only healed, but aligned perfectly!  And in such a short time!  Doc said the speed at which he is healing in general is also amazing and pretty much has him scratching his head.  He just kept using the word "amazing" and said he was also amazed at the rate of healing between last Friday and yesterday.  I know what he means, because I could see right away that his right leg, the one that has skin missing, had healed considerably since yesterday.

So.......between writing a check and getting kisses from Peanut, I proceeded to tell Doc that there was a great network of internet friends praying for Peanut and he said, "That's the explanation, then.  Because I can't give you a logical one".  "That's an AMAZING little dog you've got there".

You know what I think is amazing?  The power of prayer and all you guys who have been sending all those prayers and positive energy Peanut's way.  I've made a point to pet him often and when I do, I think of all of you and your comments and support and wish that energy to come thru me to him.  I guess it works, huh?

He still has a couple of trouble spots that Doc will be watching, but he grinned and said that if he continues to heal as he has, those spots will most likely heal also.

I can't thank you all enough for your support for our little Blogstream Miracle Dog!  Not only is he healing at an alarming rate, he is also warming up to being touched and petted.  He seems to trust us so much more.  And he's happy!  Thanks, everybody and keep those prayers coming until Mr. Amazing is romping and playing with the other dogs, which will be soon!  We love you all!
