 For Hunter

Dear Hunter,

My name is "Sugar".  I think you're older than me, but I sure think you're cute.  I live with your girlfriend and so does my Mama and Daddy.  My sister and brother went away today and I miss them.  But your girlfriend has been playing with me this afternoon and letting me sleep next to her while she sits at the computer.  She even held me for a while so I could sleep up next to her neck.  She loves that.

She tells me I'm beautiful and sweet and she says that you are too.  And she says that all the pictures of me that she puts on her computer are for you.  I hope you like them.

 Saturday

What a wonderful sight to see Ice pulling into the driveway last night after  a week of missing him.  And when he walked up to me on the sidewalk, it was just as exciting as the first time I saw him.   That same electicity jolted through my body.  I was reading Chey's account this morning of how she and the Captain came together and realized even more that accidents don't happen when it comes to meeting our ultimate mate.  Call it fate, or destiny or whatever.  All I can say is it's very real.  Right, Chey?

Welcome home, Iceman!  I missed you!!!

It's been raining here since last night, but thankfully no storms.  But we really need the rain and we've had a leisurely morning.  That will all change shortly since we have to meet the puppies' new humans at 2:00 this afternoon and will be driving about 70 miles to meet them.  The puppies got their haircuts yesterday and their shots, so it's time for them to go....sniff.  I'll sure miss them, as usual, but one consolation is that we're keeping one of them this time.  Sugar is a beautiful little girl and I can't wait to see the beautiful adult she will become.  And I'm sure Peanut can't wait either, since she will be his "breeding partner".  lol.  I'll try to get more pictures of the two that are being delivered today if I can.  But right now, I need to get off my butt and get busy.  Catch you all later!

 My babies

I was digging through boxes, looking for my high school picture to send to Lucy, and threw me right into a trip down memory lane.  It also gave me the opportunity to search out one of my favorite pictures of my kids.  It's a picture of them Jitter-Bugging when Ginger was three and Kevin was four.  They were with their dad and I at a private birthday party that included a band and a dance floor.

After watching folks dancing on Sesame Street, they were convinced they could do it.  So of course, we turned them loose and WOW!!!  They were "cuttin a rug" for sure!  They stole the show and everybody just had to get pictures of the littlest dance partners at the party.

It was the cutest thing I'd ever seen, and of course I was more than a tad prejudiced, lol.  Can't see Kevin's face, but I love it anyway.  I dug out a few more, including a family picture of right after Ginger was born.  I cut out "the jerk's" face, since he's literally been out of the the picture for many years.

This picture just screams "70's", doesn't it?  lol

A couple more of my favorites:

And then they grew up......much faster than I thought they would.  But they'll always be my beautiful, precious babies.

I am so very blessed!

Oh, and I also found my pictures of Jamaica AND.....my jamaican money!  I found a $20 dollar bill, a $100 dollar bill and a $500 dollar bill!!!  Sounds like a lot doesn't it?  Well, in American money, the 20 is worth 30 cents, the 100 is worth 1.52 and the 500 is worth 7.63.  So in all, I have a whopping total of $9.45.  Woooo Hoooo!!!  Let's go shopping! Anyway, I'll scan and post some of my pictures of Jamaica this weekend.  Right now, it's BED TIME  for this ole gal!  Night all!

 Drivel

Anybody got any spare motivation you don't mind sharing?  If so, just email it right over and I will be forever in your debt.

Could I have a bad case of Spring Fever?  What exactly is Spring Fever anyway?  Is there a definition somewhere?  Anyway, on a scale of one to ten, my motivation to do anything has been hovering around a two.  That includes blogging, working, whatever.  I actually decided to work at home today so that I might get something accomplished and have done very little.  What I have done, however, is give the puppies a bath and do some kennel duty.  Then I played with the puppies in the living room floor til they were all too pooped to go any further and they all sweetly curled up in my lap and slept.  Now, THAT was fun!

And so many "kodak moments"!  But alas......Ice is gone for the entire week to Alabama and took the camera.....sniff.  I think I'm going thru withdrawal.  I miss Ice AND the camera.  I think maybe I'll ask some of our fine photographers around here what kind of camera I need for really great pictures then start a campaign toward getting it for Christmas, maybe.  Something user friendly, digital and dummy proof.  And still take really good pictures.  Do they make such a thing?

Okay, enough fun stuff.  Back to the whining!  Okay, I'm thinking I need to find another career because more and more, the things I used to consider a welcome challenge have become nothing more than huge irritations to me.  What I wouldn't give to have the drive I used to have.  And I enjoyed every minute of it.  Where did that go?

So, I'm thinking I'll start keepin an eye on the job openings.  I've been at this for 13 years and I'm just ready for a new challenge.  One thing I've learned about myself is that I need change every few years.  But now that we are so close to retirement, I keep having to tell myself that I can hang in for four more years if it kills me.  Well, sometimes I think it's doing just that.  Well, not literally, but mentally.

Okay, now what else can I bitch about?  Hmmm....OH yeah!  I applied for a grant a while back that we were supposed to be notified on the 10th whether or not we got it.  Well, the 10th came and went and nothing.  I gave it a week, then started calling and it took me four days to get a warm body on the other end of the phone.  I was politely told that the letters went out last Wednesday, but was not told whether or not we got it.  So I wait....impatiently.  See, there was a workshop in the city TODAY that I was supposed to attend if we did get the grant, so I really needed to know so that I could make the trip.  Nothing!  The workshop was at 1:00 today, so by yesterday afternoon, I gave up.  I assumed that no news was bad news.

Today, the phone rang and it was one of my employees that said she had just been notified that we got the grant.  I looked at the clock and.....you guessed it.....it was 1:30!  GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!  Okay, I'm tickled we got the grant, but come on!   What do they expect of us?  I'm hoping when I call tomorrow that I get a warm body on the other end and they give me the good news that the workshop was postponed since the notifications didn't go out on time.  Dare I dream?

Such is the life of a non-profit employee.  Yesterday, I discover that the United Way money this year must be applied for, which I wasn't surprised to hear.  We've always had to go before the board and present our request for funds.  Well....I got this curious looking folder in the mail yesterday and upon closer inspection, I discover that it is the application that was mentioned.  Only, it's as complex as a full blown grant to apply for!  So now, every year, I'll have another two week ordeal pulling together just the right information for very little money.  Is it worth it?  I doubt it, but that's my job.  So.....what's two more weeks of aggravation?  It seems to never stop.

Is anybody ready to hand me a quarter yet?

Okay, I'll quit the whining and complaining.  I'm already sick of myself, so I can imagine what you guys think, lol.

The next couple of months are shaping up to be extremely busy.  There are going to be family reunions, business trips, company coming (lots), weekend trainings at the office, and puppies galore!  Due to the fact LaQuinta was late coming in "season" and Sally was early, we now will be having the next two litters TWO WEEKS APART!!!  God, help me!  lol  I'll need a secretary just to keep up with all the vet appointments, for cryin out loud!

I'm still bitchin, aren't I?  Hmmmm....

Okay, maybe I just need a Corona.  Or a massage?  No, Ice isn't home to give it to me.  Or maybe I'll just go water skiing!

Wow, what a ride!!!

 Immigration

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas  on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the  immigrant who comes here
in good faith becomes an American and assimilates  himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone  else, for it is an outrage to
discriminate against any such man because of  creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's  becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There  can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but  something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one  flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and  that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty  and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt  1907

I got this in an email and thought it was worth sharing.  Pup
**NOTE:  these are the thoughts of Teddy Roosevelt.  Whether I agree or disagree was not the purpose of posting these thoughts.  pup
