 Where's It Coming From?

As a child, I caught a glimpse of the villains of the soap operas once in a while, when I slowed down enough to pay attention.  I always marvelled at the sheer evil of those characters, but found comfort in the fact that, after all, those were just actors on a t.v. show.

So maybe I'm naive, but I prefer to think I grew up in a somewhat better world than what we're seeing today.  Have you noticed that everywhere you go, there's a villain lurking around that absolutely cannot tolerate anyone else's success, happiness, fun or positivity?

Are they just more visible these days or do they just not care that they are so exposed?

The internet brings them out in droves as this site has experienced numerous times.  It's the very reason that most of us that enjoyed this site in it's infancy have either left or simply do not utilize it much any more (me included).  It's the reason that no one can have a decent chat session.

I even see it in my professional life.  The back-stabbing and canniving tactics that I used to believe only existed in the soap opera world.  Is there that much jealousy in the world today?  Do people actually believe they will gain from such behavior?  Do they just not care?

What's wrong with people these days that feel justified in trying to completely destroy other people's well being in whatever fashion they can come up with?

I'm just wondering....

 Wiii.i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i.i....

Well, we took the plunge and bought a Wii.  Now we entertain ourselves by contorting our bodies and swinging or batting at thin air in the living room.  My personal favorite (so far) is bowling.  And I really suck at baseball.

But we're having a blast!  And gettin some exercise to boot.  Can't beat that, now can we?  Not even with a virtual baseball bat or golf club, lol.

Peace, y'all!

 Company Comin!

Can you believe our mothers and grandmothers dressed this way to do house work?  I don't.  I can remember both my grandmothers doing housework in their "not-so-fancy" dresses and certainly not in heels!  And my mother didn't do housework period.  She had two daughters to do it, after all.  But one thing I can say for that....she taught us well.  I learned from an early age to dust, clean, do laundry, and iron clothes.  And ya know what?  It didn't hurt me a bit.

There was a time in my much younger days as a married girl that I thought my house had to look like those in the commercials all the time.  Maybe it was obsession.  Who knows.......but I loved a clean and neat house and still do.  But after two kids and three step kids, my idea of acceptable was modified through the years.

Now I'm too tired and too busy to ever keep my house the way I did back then.  Besides, I don't want to.  However, I wouldn't mind someone else coming in and keeping it that way for me, lol.  Yeah, yeah!  Dream on, Puppy.  You haven't won the lottery, after all.....

Back to my point.....I grew up watching all the housewives of the world and their methods of "keeping house".  I wanted to be one of those housewives one day and be as obsessive as I pleased.  I was going to live in that little cottage with the white picket fence and the dog in the yard.  And I was gonna be good at it, by George!

Forty years later, I think I've finally given up on having that wonderful relationship with my home that I briefly had way back then.  Back before Women's Lib and the economy went sour.  Back before I was required to bring home half the bacon, as well as keep the house clean and the kids and husband fed.  I  know.....waaaa....waaaaa........

But ya know?  There's still nothing more therapeutic for me than to dive into a sink full of hot, soapy dishwater for a while to "do the dishes".  I miss that sometimes as I sit at my desk or in front of my computer.  Is that so bad?

I don't think so........:)

For what it's worth...

 Here It Comes Again

I hear the thunder as it gets nearer and nearer and the first raindrops of the storm on the roof.....again!!!!  I'm starting to wonder if this is what Noah felt like with all this friggin rain!!

There I go.....complaining again.  Okay, at least it's not scorching hot and powder dry like it's been for the last three years, right?  Right!

Okay, I feel better now.  Thanks for letting me get this off my chest, have a great Friday everybody, and here's hoping Colo hasn't washed away in Dallas yet either.  Hang in there, girlfriend!

Sunday At The Lake, Prissy Style

We've been back from our usual weekend trip to the lake for about an hour and pooped, as usual.  Something about good clean air, water and swimming just takes it out of me.  Or maybe it's just the total relaxation of the day sinking in, ya think?  Either way, I'm a happily tired Puppy right now.

Prissy has proven to be our "boat dog" and she has a fit every time she thinks we're getting ready to go.  So I dressed her up in her purple collar today ( I told her it was a thong), grabbed her up, and off we went to the lake.

I took the camera today so that I could get a few pictures (113 actually), so I thought I'd share parts of our day with you via pictures.  First of all, here is where we launched the boat.....note our gray Dodge in the parking lot:

Iceman took the wheel,

And little miss Priss was ready to go:

So off we went for six hours of riding around the lake, swimming, and taking in the beauty of our surroundings:

We went for a swim and Prissy wasn't about to be left out, so she swam too.....which consists of her insisting that I "hold" her in the water, preferably up on my shoulder so that she only has to hold on and enjoy the cool water.  She even fell asleep, for pete's sake.  Anyway, she was a little chilly afterwards, so she enjoyed a nice warm towel and a nap:

We took a swing by the golf course to see how it has fared since all the rain.  Sure enough, one of the greens was an island since the lake is up several feet:

But it appeared that the rest of the course was being well used today:

Where else can you watch people playing golf from your boat?  Ya just can't beat that with a stick.  Anyway, by this time it was looking a little stormy, so we headed back toward the boat ramp as Prissy navigated:

I guess we are at the end of my little "story in pictures", so I think I'll get myself a cup of coffee and rest from all my fun.  Prissy is out in the yard bragging to all the rest of the dogs about her day, so I think she's happy too.

Thanks for sharing our day and I hope you enjoyed it too!

Love to all!
