I received a nice card in the mail a couple of days ago from a lady that bought one of Peanut's first litter.  I have been really curious as to how they would look after they were full grown, so I was tickled that she sent a picture of the puppy she purchased.  This one is a female from his and LaQuinta's first litter and she is now nine months old.  Her name is "Harley Rae" and I just had to show her off.  Isn't she gorgeous?  Good job, Peanut!

We dedicate this little beauty to Hunter with our best wishes for that sweet little boy.  Get well soon, Hunter!

I'd almost forgotten how good it feels to have a day to ourselves with no schedule and nothing pressing to do (at least that we can't temporarily ignore).  The music as been pouring from the speakers all day as we soak it in and feel the stresses of the last few weeks fall away. 

We dance from room to room, singing along when we feel like it.  And I'm reminded of how blessed I truly am to have found a mate that feeds his soul with music the way I do. 

It's our way of "busting out" of what the regimented world expects of us way too often and for way too long. 

And as The Ozark Mountain Daredevils remind me today and I sing along, "If you wanna get to heaven, you gotta raise a little hell" seems to describe both of us and the way we feel about life. 

Sure is nice to spend a day this way..........with someone like you!  Darlin, let's dance!  Love you....

I finally sold the last two puppies Friday, which officially ended our puppy business for good.  I'm gonna miss all those cuddly little cuties, but not all the aggravation and work that went along with it. 

Sally and LaQuinta are going to be "fixed" next week, if i can get them both scheduled.  If not, we'll have them done the next week.  We've torn down a lot of fensing already and will tear down the remaining puppy yard after "the girls" have used it to sufficiently recover from their sterilization.  As soon as they're ready to go back out with "the boys", we'll be tearing that down too.

Now all the dogs have to do is be dogs and have the life of luxury in their temperature controlled kennel.  I can't help but think about all the ridicule that was heaped on Jim and Tammy Baker for their "air conditioned dog house", lol.  Remember?  I do, cuz I was one of those scoffing at such an idea.  Now, our dogs have a 12' by 14' building with heat and air, running water, and a continuous feeder.  But hey, they have worked hard for us, so they deserve it, by george!  Besides, I couldn't take all six of them in the house.......egads!

I gave Junior, Sally, Peanut, and LaQuinta all much needed baths and haircuts yesterday.  Due to the groomer being awol in Alaska for so long and not doing much business since then and me being way too busy with work, company and puppies, they were an over-ripe and shaggy bunch for sure!  Here are Junior, Peanut and LaQuinta today:

So to get rid of all the matted hair, I just did a buzz job on all of them, leaving only beards and eyebrows, but even Sally's beard had to be trimmed to an uneven mess since she roots around all the time and gets it in terrible shape.  I can't look at her without laughing now:

Sweet little Peanut is so terrified of the electic clippers that I have to just do the best I can with the scissors, so he's a mess too.  But they're all clean and happy, so I'm happy too.

He and Peanut are both getting lighter and lighter so that they look almost white these days.

And I caught Buster standing still long enough to get a picture of him too.

I've managed to get him and Prissy in to the new groomer in town, so they were spared from the marathon grooming session yesterday, I'm sure to their delight, lol.

So.....that's all the news here on Schnauzer lane and here's hoping I'll now have more free time for the "stream" and all my friends here.  I've missed my time here and hope to get caught up on all of you soon.  Til then, my thoughts are will you all!

SORRY, ALL THE PICTURES THAT WERE INCLUDED IN THIS POST WERE LINKED FROM OUR WEBSITE. SINCE WE'VE GONE OUT OF THE PUPPY BUSINESS, WE SHUT DOWN THE WEBSITE AND I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW MANY OF MY BLOG POSTS THAT IT WOULD AFFECT. EGADS! OH WELL. PUP

I'm definitely kicking myself for deciding to have just one more litter of puppies before we quit the business for good.  Since that fateful decision:

1.  Our wonderful Vet retired with very little notice, leaving us to deal with the other one in town that I don't care for at all.

2.  Our groomer spent 10 weeks in Alaska and isn't taking much business anymore, so I've been having to use a new one in town that isn't as good and more expensive.

3.  I just found out yesterday morning that the ad we have had in the city for a week was mis-printed with the wrong area code on the phone number.

4.  Everyone is broke from buying school clothes and supplies or going on vacation and aren't thinking of buying a dog.  Happens every year at this time.

5.  The only buyer we had so far called to back out last night and the phone still isn't ringing from the newly corrected ad in the paper.

6.  Out of six puppies, five are males.  Nine out of ten buyers want a female.

WHAT WAS I THINKING?! 

We have so many strikes against us this time that it's almost funny.  "Almost" being the key word here, lol.

So we may have to reduce the price drastically this time.  However, I would rather reduce them to almost nothing to make sure they go to good homes than to sell to a broker that will ship then god knows where and not treat them well at all.

I was at the "new" Vet's office the other day with all six puppies and had already been waiting over an hour for my scheduled appointment to get their first shots.  There were a few other folks waiting in this tiny waiting room, along with a young couple sitting across from me that had a puppy in a box on the floor that wasn't moving at all and obviously very sick.  From the looks of the couple and my suspicion that this was a pit bull puppy, I was pretty sure this puppy had not been vaccinated and therefore could possibly be very sick with Parvo. 

The puppy died right there in that box on the floor, so the couple said they were taking it home to bury it.  Two of the Vet's assistants came out and said they recognized the odor of Parvo before they even got to the waiting area and proceeded to start spraying and wiping the area the box was in.

Needless to say, I was pretty upset along with everybody else in that room.  There I sat with six UN-VACCINATED, vulnerable, innocent puppies.

And I wanted to scream at that couple about letting a puppy go un-vaccinated against such deadly diseases, letting it get way too sick before they brought it in, and not having a whit of concern for other animals in that room that could be exposed. 

Whew, it felt good to get that off my chest.  I think I'll go play with the puppies and smell that wonderful puppy breath for a while.  It's really great therapy, ya know? They are all so precious!

So, how many of you are interested in giving one of these precious pups a good home?  Hmmmmm????
