Life With Schnauzers

 My Sunday Contribution

I hate to admit it, but I truly can't think of a damn thing intelligent or witty to write about, so this is it folks.  Puppy is a very boring girl of late, so I'll let you guys fill in the blanks, okay?  Thanks!

Buster, otherwise known as "The Man"

Buster and Prissy got baths this morning and we tried to get a good picture of Buster, but he is so camera shy that his entire persona changes.  He's such a "stud" and his stance is so perfect and proud.....unless he sees a camera, lol.  Oh well, this is him after his bath this morning.  He also doesn't like baths.  But he is the star of our little Schnauzer show since he was our first Schnauzer.  We started out to get him a companion or playmate and one thing lead to another.  Now we have five more "companions" and puppies coming on a regular basis.  Here he is in a picture I managed to take a while back before he was aware of the camera.  He's so regal and proud:

He remains our only "alpha" male and Prissy has appointed herself the "alpha" female.  It's funny to watch them as they watch over their empire and make sure all the other dogs are submissive.  Buster only bullies the males, and Prissy only bullies the females.  Nothing serious, but they are very stubborn about their position in the "pack" and keep the rest of them reminded of their position.  It's all very natural and neat to watch.

Prissy is looking "very" pregnant and I'm more and more nervous about leaving town next week.  She is actually due on Saturday, but I'm so worried that she will have the pups early and I won't be here.  We have a friend lined up to come out and help her if I'm not here, but it just isn't the same as being here myself and I know I'll be a nervous wreck.

Things are turning green around here and the trees and flowers are starting to bloom.  It always feels to me like a time of renewal and I relish the sight of lush green leaves and new grass.  It makes me feel free after the cold, gray winter.

I see that Ice bought a six pack of Corona when he made his rounds this morning, as well as rented some movies, so the beer is icing down and I'm ready to settle in front of the boob tube and just chill to a good movie and good beer.  I normally don't drink a whole beer, only a sip out of Ice's, but I'm gonna have an entire bottle to myself today.

So much for my useless babble for today.  I think I'll go see if that beer is cold yet.

 When My Butt Gets Here......

Yeah, when my butt gets here......it seems to drag further and further behind me on these trips to the city, lol.  Oh well, I'm sure it will arrive sometime before bedtime.  Sure is good to be home!!!  It felt like the trip home was twice as long as usual, but I finally made it to see my handsome hunk waitin for me in the driveway and fresh coffee made...mmmmm.

I gotta get around and see how many "M.E.M's" have been posted so far.  I'm having a blast reading all of the so far.  I got home to find that we had no internet, so after a while, I messed with the router, and vuala!  It worked, thank goodness.  I was anxious to catch up with everybody and I had received an email from someone wanting a puppy from our next litter, so I wanted to get that answered too.  I actually got a call today from a guy in Arkansas that is sending a deposit already for first pick of Prissy's pups, so looks like this litter is gonna sell as easy as her last one.  Go Prissy!!!  Speaking of Pris, it took a while to get her calmed down when I got home, but she is finally settled down and sleeping.  I'm a little put out with Mr. Junior right now.  I let him in the house for just a minute while I gave Peanut his medicine and when I came back in later, I found that he had peed on my briefcase!!!  That boy's gonna hafta learn some manners real soon!  Luckily, the mess was easily cleaned up, but I'm seriously gonna have to have a talk with that boy.

Well, I rubbed elbows with the senators and representatives today and tried to listen to a speech by the Attorney General, but the echo in the capitol rotunda was so horendous that I only got a word here and there.  It nice to see so many of us dressed in red and I think we made a definite statement for our legislators today.

Anyway, so much for all my boring news.  I'll leave you with a picture of my latest roses (anniversary).  They're so gorgeous that I would have taken with me, if I could have figured out a way, lol.  Yeah, I'm still spoiled rotten and I'm sure I always will be.  Thanks, Handsome!

Now, I gotta go catch up on everybody.....

 Tuesday Night

Well, I gotta hit the road again sometime tomorrow and head for the city.  AGAIN!!!  Oh well, it pays the bills, right?  Actually, I’m kinda looking forward to this trip since it’s not a meeting this time, but a day at the capitol for Legislative Awareness Day (Domestic Violence).  I’ve never gotten a chance to go til now, and despite all the hoopla going on, the sight I’m most anxious to see are all the “silent witness” silhouettes arranged in the capitol building that represent women killed in this state at the hands of a husband or boyfriend.  I’ve heard it’s quite impressive and moving to see then all in one place, each with a name and short synopsis of their death.  There are six from this area alone, we added a new one just this year.

And I just keep thinking how I would love for Dazey to be there to see it too.  Thank you Dazey for being a survivor.  You and kktaylorcc and so many others, I salute your strength in leaving your abusive situations and I celebrate your determination to take care of you for a change.  And I mostly thank you for being an empowering influence on other women who read your words and your experiences and your milestones and victories.

On a less serious note, there has been a lot of laughter this last week or so on the stream.  I’ve read so many funny stories and comments that my sides are sore from all of it.  I’m enjoying the Most Embarrassing Moments stories a lot, but that’s not all of it.  Biggie T, Ash’s Mom and Belle’s posts this week, to name just a few, then there are the “comment fests” that have gone on also that have definitely kept me entertained and laughing heartily.  Then I got a preview of what Ice posted tonight and just lost it.  I had tears rolling, but I should be used to his imagination by now.  This is a man that cracks me up regularly in his sleep.  His imagination doesn’t go to sleep, nor does his wit or sense of humor.

The new fence finally has us able to relax again and Peanut is still doing very well.  I took him for his appointment today and Doc says that everything looks great and once again called him the “Miracle Dog”.  One elbow may require some stitching later on if it doesn’t start to heal better pretty soon.  That will require his leg to be splinted and I just hate to see him saddled with yet another “contraption” attached to his body.  I gave him a slow and thorough bath this evening and he enjoyed it for the most part.  He’s never liked his head washed, but he still behaved himself like a brave little boy during that part too.

Prissy is getting so big!  She has 11 more days to carry those puppies around and I hope she has an easy delivery.  I can tell she’s feeling very pregnant lately and wants lots more attention.  I really hope she has another white female puppy that we can keep and raise to breed with Peanut.  I think they would produce gorgeous puppies!

Thanks everybody for all the anniversary well wishes and helping us celebrate five years.  Oh, and don’t forget your Most Embarrassing Moments this week!  I’m loving all of them that have been posted so far!  Keep em comin, folks!

Catch ya later, gators

 Don't Forget

Embarassing Moments

I was reading Ash's Mom's latest post and I loved reading and laughing about her "misadventure".

So I thought maybe we could get a few more stories about Most Embarassing moments.  Whataya say, folks?  Let's make this

Embarassing Moments Week!

So, put away the pride and let your hair down.  I want to read your stories!

I have reposted my three "MEM's" in order, so enjoy.  I can't wait to read all your stories.  Cuz after all, like Topaz says:  Laughter is the best medicine!
