Well, I gotta hit the road again sometime tomorrow and head for the city. AGAIN!!! Oh well, it pays the bills, right? Actually, I’m kinda looking forward to this trip since it’s not a meeting this time, but a day at the capitol for Legislative Awareness Day (Domestic Violence). I’ve never gotten a chance to go til now, and despite all the hoopla going on, the sight I’m most anxious to see are all the “silent witness” silhouettes arranged in the capitol building that represent women killed in this state at the hands of a husband or boyfriend. I’ve heard it’s quite impressive and moving to see then all in one place, each with a name and short synopsis of their death. There are six from this area alone, we added a new one just this year.
And I just keep thinking how I would love for Dazey to be there to see it too. Thank you Dazey for being a survivor. You and kktaylorcc and so many others, I salute your strength in leaving your abusive situations and I celebrate your determination to take care of you for a change. And I mostly thank you for being an empowering influence on other women who read your words and your experiences and your milestones and victories.
On a less serious note, there has been a lot of laughter this last week or so on the stream. I’ve read so many funny stories and comments that my sides are sore from all of it. I’m enjoying the Most Embarrassing Moments stories a lot, but that’s not all of it. Biggie T, Ash’s Mom and Belle’s posts this week, to name just a few, then there are the “comment fests” that have gone on also that have definitely kept me entertained and laughing heartily. Then I got a preview of what Ice posted tonight and just lost it. I had tears rolling, but I should be used to his imagination by now. This is a man that cracks me up regularly in his sleep. His imagination doesn’t go to sleep, nor does his wit or sense of humor.
The new fence finally has us able to relax again and Peanut is still doing very well. I took him for his appointment today and Doc says that everything looks great and once again called him the “Miracle Dog”. One elbow may require some stitching later on if it doesn’t start to heal better pretty soon. That will require his leg to be splinted and I just hate to see him saddled with yet another “contraption” attached to his body. I gave him a slow and thorough bath this evening and he enjoyed it for the most part. He’s never liked his head washed, but he still behaved himself like a brave little boy during that part too.
Prissy is getting so big! She has 11 more days to carry those puppies around and I hope she has an easy delivery. I can tell she’s feeling very pregnant lately and wants lots more attention. I really hope she has another white female puppy that we can keep and raise to breed with Peanut. I think they would produce gorgeous puppies!
Thanks everybody for all the anniversary well wishes and helping us celebrate five years. Oh, and don’t forget your Most Embarrassing Moments this week! I’m loving all of them that have been posted so far! Keep em comin, folks!
Catch ya later, gators
