Life With Schnauzers

 Monday

Hey, everybody! I'm trying to contain my warm fuzzies long enough to thank you for all the well wishes, cyber hugs and words of encouragement. I even got a pat on the head from Diesel and some helpful hints like "eating grass" (Carrotcake) and fluids and garlic (PolarB). Didn't get any scratches behind the ears, but anyway....What a nice way to begin a Monday. I got up this morning feeling about 75% better, no more aches and just a little slow burn in the belly, which is pretty much gone now. I even managed to eat the pork chop that hubby cooked on the grill for me last night for my lunch today. Yummm!!! Guess I just had a bug and I'm soooo glad it's gone. Too much to do at work this week to be "playin hookie". Isn't it weird how we go around wishing for a day off, but when we get sick and can't go to work, we feel guilty about it? What's wrong with this picture? Oh, well, that's another soap box issue that I just won't go into right now. My job is very challenging (which is a nice way to say TOO DAMN STRESSFUL!!). LOL But if I can hang with it a few more years, it's RETIREMENT, HERE WE COME!! I can't wait to retire with hubby. I'm ready to travel around and see sights that I've always wanted to see and I can't think of anybody I would rather see them with. I guess that just comes along with having the same interests and enjoying each other. Gee, I wish he had come along many years ago. Oh well, he finally found his way here, so I won't complain.

I can't believe how warm it is in the middle of November! I have flowers that have come up and are about to bloom, for pete's sake! My Bradford pear tree bloomed two weeks ago. What a weird year. I heard Paul Harvey say this morning that we are in for another major hurricane named Gamma most likely. Geeeez! Enough's enough!

Well, I gotta get back to work. I didn't mean to write a book, but just had to thank you guys for just "bein there". This stream runs right thru my heart. Have a great Monday, everybody! :)

 Blahhhh

I've wasted an entire day...don't ya hate that? Got up feeling a tad under the weather but fared pretty good til the afternoon. By then I felt like a Mac truck had run over me...ache all over, headache, nothing tastes good, not even coffee. I hate feeling bad. The most I've done today is blog a little this morning, cook breakfast and take a shower. Oh yeah, I threw hubby a potato in the microwave, lol. Pushed the buttons too! Well, I guess I accomplished a little more than I thought today, but still feel pretty lousy, so until tomorrow....Have a good evening, everybody and keep on keepin on!

 Saturday

Well, it's one o'clock and I just finished breakfast, lol. I love Saturdays! Especially when I've already been off for two days. Course, when I say "off", I don't just mean from work. Thursday morning's anesthesia or pre-op shot one kinda hung with me til yesterday evening, so I felt like I was walking around in a mental fog. Now, this is where hubby, if he were listening, would raise an eyebrow meaning, "darlin, you're always in a fog", lol. And then I give him one of those looks that I inherited from my dad (worked with my kids, let me tell ya) and he would respond with one of those both eyebrows raised, deer in the headlights, "okay I'm leaving" looks. Never underestimate unspoken communication, I say. lol

Speaking of my Dad, I spoke to him yesterday morning before he was to fly out of Anchorage to Deadhorse, Alaska. He had been through survival training the day before for nine hours and was getting ready for a final briefing before flying out. He did, however, find out that he will be working something like 6 weeks on and then fly home for 2 weeks, which made me feel somewhat better. I'm still just not sold on my 74 year old Daddy working way up there where the high temperature of the day always has a minus sign attached to it. Daddy's little girl wants to stomp her foot and pout, but she's behaving herself.....barely. I was doing pretty good til, at the last minute, he just had to throw in a tidbit of information I'd just as sooned not heard. Had something to do with them telling him to never leave a building without looking around thoroughly, because POLAR BEARS attack!!! I'll change the subject before I break out in hives....

Thanks to everybody for all your comments during my lovely little procedure and the preparation for it. I especially enjoyed all the cleverly implanted wisecracks in each comment. You guys are a hoot, but seriously, it helped me to laugh through my misery.

The puppies are growing like little weeds and are butterball fat. I'll always think of Wally when I look at them, since he called them a "six pack". I miss Wally and I keep hoping he will just pop up again.

Hubby has a good playlist going on the MusicMatch and it's good to listen to all the great songs and watch the leaves fall from the kitchen window. We're a two computer family, so my desk is in the kitchen and his in the living room. I was thinking a few days ago about how things have changed in such a short period of time, thanks to computers and the internet. Now, if I were to shop for a new house, it would have to include an office. It wouldn't have crossed my mind a few years ago. I've been tempted to convert one of the spare bedrooms, but I sincerely don't like having folks crashed in my living room floor when they visit, so I'll stay with the current arrangement. It works for us quite well. Now, how did I get off on all that?...

I had a great time trying to keep up with the comment explosion over on Diesel's blog yesterday. I couldn't contribute much due to the "mental fog", but I had a ball anyway. Confidentially, girls, I really think we had Diesel runnin a little scared there for a while. Seems his backup (ice and scratch) were busy elsewhere. But he hung in there by the skin of his teeth, lol. He's a good sport, that Diesel and I'm s-o-o-o-o-o glad he's still with us. Now, if we could just get Wally back and get Stalker and Krispy back up and runnin soon.

I've got a date with Hubby tonight and I'm definitely looking forward to that. He's so much fun to be with.

Everybody have a great day and I'll be checkin in now and then. Gotta keep up with the Stream, right? :):)

 Happy Birthday Scratch

There once was a guy named Scratch
On his birthday, he said "down the hatch"
He beat up his neighbor
The dog he did favor
For him there was just no match!!
