 Junior, Truly our Gentle Giant

Something happened yesterday evening that I just had to share with everybody.  Ice and I were in the living room when the dogs started to bark out in the back yard, which isn't unusual.  So we didn't think much of it.

Then I heard this weird cry coming from the back porch and it startled me because I was afraid it was one of the dogs.  About that time, Junior came in the doggy door and proceded to set a full grown fox squirrel in the middle of the floor, turn it loose, and look up at me with those big brown sorrowful eyes.

Needless to say, the squirrel hobbled quickly under the t.v. and we went into a panic!  But not Junior.....no sir.  He just stood around looking at us til we made him go outside and we blocked the doggy door.

Now what?  I was visualizing this full grown squirrel running loose in my house, under the bed, behind the fridge........forever terrorizing us in our own home.

Ice went out back and got the hoe and a live trap (that we bought back when we had the racoon incident).  In the door he comes with all this equipment and I'm thinking there is no way that squirrel is going to go in that cage willingly.

But he did, thank God!  Ice had to maneuver him around and coax him a little, but the squirrel did exactly what Ice wanted him to do, so he was able to carry him back outside to the front sidewalk, cage and all.  We opened the door and the squirrel hobbled away, obviously hurt enough that he couldn't get in a big hurry.

The best we can figure out is the squirrel injured itself falling out of a tree, maybe onto the fence.  Junior obviously was more concerned about the poor squirrel than anything.  He wasn't chasing it after he turned it loose and just stood there like he wanted me to help the poor thing.

Now does that dog have heart or what?  Hats off to our "Gentle Giant".  No wonder he has me wrapped around his paw, lol.

Love to all!

 We're Baaaack

The Schnauzers were on their own this last week since we made a trip to sunny (?) Florida!  Actually, the sun didn't shine til the day before we left, but we had a great time anyway.  We spent time in the hot tub in our room:

And we watched the pelicans perch just outside our balcony as the boats came in and out:

And when the sun finally came out on Wednesday, we frolicked at the beach:

Now we're back at the ole homestead and glad to be here.  Funny how we can't wait to get away, then can't wait to get back home.  I gotta say that I had a wonderful time since I've never been to Florida before other than flying in and out of the Miami airport, which in my book doesn't count.

And I hadn't been to a beach since I was nine years old, so by the time the sun came out and the weather warmed up, I was chomping at the bit to get in that beautiful water.  Ice and I both got a slight sunburn, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.  There's just no place like the beach and I loved it!

Now, we'll be going back to the old grind this next week, but maybe just a bit recharged after a much needed vacation.  Saint Augustine was a great place to visit and we never ran out of things to see and do.  We spent two days walking the beautiful downtown area and still didn't see all there was to see.  Maybe next time, since I definitely want to go back.  But next time, I also want to go to Orlando and swim with the dolphins.  I've wanted to do that for a couple of years now and I think it would be a great experience.  Ice wants to go parasailing, so maybe we can fit that in to the next trip also.  But for now, we're glad to be home and glad to see the dogs again.

It took a while to get Prissy calmed down after we got home and she's been watching us closely ever since to make sure we don't slip back out the door without her, lol.

Anyway, that's all the news for now.  I may try and get some more pictures posted of our vacation this weekend, so until then, love to all and good night.

 Wow

I got this in email today and couldn't believe it.  This was published shortly after I was born and since I'm "not that old" (hehe), I have to say that we've come a long way, Baby!

No wonder there are so many men longing for the "good old days", lol.

Maybe the "Purse Posse" should enlighten them, ya think?

Love to all!
