Marcia is a wonderful friend of mine.  She is and always has been my mentor and always my rock in any storm.  And occasionally, she lets me return the favor. 

She was true to the promise she made in her remarks above that are printed on the back cover of Matt Atkinson's book.  She not only delivered the books to each of us in our bi-monthly coalition meeting this morning, but Matt himself, who introduced us to Shannon Doherty.  Shannon is one of the subjects in his book and she relayed to us how she has managed to totally change her life around from an angry, empty shell of a person who punished herself for years, including self destructive behaviors as cutting herself, to a smiling young lady that now has hope in life and getting more optimistic by the day. 

After this wonderfully brave young woman spoke, and as we were all drying our eyes, Marcia thanked this lovely young woman for the gift she had shared with us today.  In unison, we all came to our feet and applauded both Shannon for sharing her brave journey and Matt for leading her through that journey.

During an extended break in the meeting, I opened my autographed copy to scan thru this book and was instantly engrossed in page after page.

And I thought of all my friends here on the Stream that have suffered the same hell this young woman has suffered.  I made a silent promise to myself that after the meeting and Ice and I drove home from the city, I would take the first opportunity to spread the word to all of you about this wonderful book.  It is available on Amazon.com or you can go to www.resurrectionafterrape.org also to order the book.  I urge anyone that has been a victim of such a terrible crime as rape to read this book.  And any of you, like me, that are advocates for victims of sexual violence, this book is a must read!
